when i check google maps it appears that Ayetoro is 60 miles from the ocean / how could this flooding happen so far away from the ocean ??

Ayetoro faces the ocean directly. The ocean took its beach, took it's playgrounds, took the coconut trees in front of the beach. Now it isn't satisfied with taking its beach and playgrounds and coconut trees. It wants to take the entire town and the towns close to it.

It's a dire picture indeed. I haven't developed the prose yet to graphically paint the dire picture of Ayetoro.

I agree, one of the problems we face is that we are lacking the language to even say what is going on in the world. If we want to survive on the planet we need all the writers, artists and philosophers. Why do we still read Plato and Locke and all the others? Because they created our language ... and now we are paralysed becaused we do not have the language to deal with the problems we have.

I always want to say "We need to live in harmony with Nature" but it is impossible to say this without sounding ridiculous (in certain circles). Instead, we have to talk about ecosystem services. As long we have to use this language we are doomed ...
